Been a while since a post, but we're still here! I wanted to touch on the equipment I use and why I use it.
Panasonic 20mm f/1.7
Canon FD 28mm f/2.8
Canon FD 50mm f/1.4
Helios 44-2 58mm f/2
Minolta Rokkor 135mm f/2.8
Kowa Prominar 16-S Anamorphic Lens
The reason I chose these cameras is because of the options available. These DSLRs are mirrorless, which sets them apart from other camera because there is less distance from the lens mount, which is Micro Four Thirds, to the sensor. This opens up tons of options for lenses that normally wouldn't be available on Canon or Nikon. You can even use their lenses on the GH2 and GH3! You can also adapt PL, Zeiss, Pentax, and basically every type of lens out there to the camera.
These cameras also boast the most resolution from any DSLR camera in their range. What makes the GH2 so special is that it can be hacked, meaning you can adjust the firmware to increase the quality of the video to crazy high bitrates. The highest I've gone to myself is 176mb/s, which is unheard of in a camera that small. The form factor also allows these cameras to get into places that bigger cameras could not. The GH3 is a huge upgrade as a camera overall, which is why I have added it to my gear. 1080p at 60fps is a great thing to have, along with weather sealing and a variety of different codec options.
I'm not really a fan of most of the Micro Four Thirds lenses available, which why I have chosen to adapt older lenses to my cameras. The images they produce are also a lot warmer than what I have seen from modern lenses and provide more character to the video. This is what I use to give my images a bit more character and uniqueness. Lenses are everything.
Just a quick overview for now. I'll go more in depth to my anamorphic lens, which is something really incredible and has given me a whole new outlook on shooting. See ya!
